Community Profile

Name: Dr. Kelly D. Arnold

Marital Status: Married for 11 years to his wife and office manager, Erika

Children: Three awesome kids!  Montana 10, Madison 9, Malachi 8

Occupation: Chiropractor and business owner of Barkley Chiropractic

Where did you grow up: Iowa, corn country.

How long have you lived in Whatcom County: 1 1/2 years

Favorite activity in Whatcom County: Hiking Mt. Baker, Whatcom Falls, Lake Padden and other trails in the area, attending all of my kids sporting events.

Favorite places to eat: Chihuahas or Barkley Bob’s Burger & Brew, but mostly prefer eating at home.

Last community event attended: WYPs Social, Chamber events, Cornwall Church, Padden Polar Dip

Favorite listening:  Talk sports radio – favorite sport is football and favorite team Minnesota Vikings.  I also like listening to Pillar, P.O.D., & Project 86.

Recommended reading: Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen and The E-Myth.  E-Myth is an excellent business book. It gave me a new appreciation and understanding for my working relationship with my wife and reaffirmed how well we compliment each other in our strengths.

Favorite non-profit:  Red Cross, LightHouse Mission

Preferred local shopping: Farmer’s Market, Hardware Sales, Fred Meyer, Fairhaven shops (inspired by my wife)

Where do you go on a rainy day for fun: Outside

Fondest Memory: Traveling and camping across the country with my wife and kids while we were researching outdoor, family friendly cities to move to.  Bellingham topped them all!

What do you love about Bellingham: The people here are friendly and they care about the local community.  I love having the ability to do just about anything outdoors – going to Mt. Baker, the San Juan Islands, Lake Whatcom, etc.  The Parks and Rec Program does a superb job of offering various recreational opportunities for families.  Our family had a great time at Kids Day and Get Moving, just to name a few.  The Chamber of Commerce’s new division, the Whatcom Young Professionals, is innovative and supportive.   I love Bellingham and feel so fortunate to call it home.
