STEVE ROGUSKI
Role at Fairhaven Runners: Owner, opened store July 1999.

Started running: "...in second grade when I’d run to and from school. I used to use my desk as a starting block and I’d I lean halfway out of my chair waiting for the bell to ring. I remember sticking a ruler in my shoe to use as a shifter as I sped my way home."

Favorite run: Lost Lake/Ridge Trail Loop—Arroyo Park to Lost Lake Trail to Little Chinscraper to Chuckanut Ridge Trail to Lost Lake trail and back to Arroyo (about 13.5 miles). "It’s just the joyful essence of trail running: winding single track through a wild, untamed place; a precipitous ridge where your footwork is as fast and fancy as your nerve will allow."

Hopeless cause: Has been a Boston Red Sox fan since the days of Yaz, Rico, Pudge and the Spaceman. "I’d see them play at Fenway with my Little League teammates and my grandfather. Damn those Yankees!!!"

Most epic day running ever: Ran up and down Goat Mountain, Yellow Aster Butte and Church Mountain all in one day—about 30 miles with 12,000 feet elevation gain. "On the way down Church Mountain, I was cramping up with every single step and my feet were just huge blisters, but I finished what I meant to do and that felt wonderful."

Words to Live by: "Find a path that makes you happy... and go there".  "Make a living by what you get; make a life by what you give." W.Churchill  "If the bone ain’t showin’, keep on goin’"—local trail running legend Doug McKeever

Personal: Married to Genevie, stepdaughter Hannah is 9, son Derek is 17

Misc.:  sponsor/volunteer/runner at most every local race.

Craig Bartlett

Talk about experience: He has been running since he was 13 years old (27 years ago)!

Variety is the key: "I don't really have one favorite running route.  I tend to get burned out on the same courses, so I always look for new trails and try to mix it up as much as I can."

Most amazing day of running: "Too many to pick!  I'll say for the past year it was running around Mt. St. Helens with my wife Kristen and some friends.  It was a 31 mile trail and all 6 of us had a great time - no blisters!"

Favorite non-running activities:  Playing board games and Frisbee golf.

Little known fact: He likes to climb trees.

Favorite quote: "You can't polish a turd."

Personal:  Married to wife, Kristen and they are expecting their first baby boy on May 13th! They also have 3 kitties; Cereal, Malia and Fishy.

Polly Favinger

Running vitae: Ran the half-mile and 2-mile in high school in Edison, N.J.

"Many years ago, when it truly was the half-mile and 2-mile, not the 800 and 3200!" Ran on and off after college, but picked it up more seriously about seven years ago.  Now averages about 30 miles per week.

Favorite place to run: The horse trails at Lake Padden. "You can take many different loops to make your run anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours."

Top athletic moment: The 2000 Seattle Danskin Women's Triathlon, her first triathlon. "Finishing the swim was a feat in itself because I'm a very bad swimmer!  By the time I got to the run leg I'd hit my comfort zone and felt like I was just flying-it was exhilarating!

We did not know that: When Polly was 7, Crayola chose a crayon drawing she'd done of a boat to use in an ad campaign. It ran from the mid- to late-'60s. "My art career never went any further though."

Words to live by:   "Keep my words positive; Words become my behaviors. Keep my behaviors positive; Behaviors become my habits.  Keep my habits positive; Habits become my values.  Keep my values positive; Values become my destiny." - Mahatma Gandhi.

Personal: Husband Art and sons, Woody (17) and Gharrett (13)

Todd Brittain

Running averages:  60-80 miles a week.

Hit the trails:  His favorite running route is the Interurban to the Fragrance Lake Trail, up Fragrance, Two Dollar Bill, Cleater, Chinscraper, Chuckanut Ridge to Arroyo and back home.

Great running experience: "I had a good run at the Chuckanut 50K last year.  I took about 40 minutes off my time from the previous year and the weather was great."

You did what?  For a fitness test in High School, he bench pressed a 50lb. bar 1,501 times.

Favorite quote:  "Life's not all bad, sometimes there's family picnics and noodle salad." - Jack Nicholson in As Good as it Gets

When not running: He likes to do research in neurochemistry, reading, mountain biking, watching movies and Seinfeld re-runs.

Personal: one cat Lucy, One girlfriend, Melissa.

Chris Taylor

Been running since: He was on the Cross Country team his sophomore year in High School  (1998).

Running Shoes: "I love running shoes. Nothing else is better than a brand new pair of running shoes. Seriously! My favorite is the Asics Gel-Kayano, I've had a pair every year since '99."

Best running experience:  His junior year of high school, he battled it out a race with a big rival and in the last 200 meters, Chris pulled ahead and beat him. "It was sweet!"

All about basketball: He once bowled with Desmond Mason from the Sonics.

More basketball: "His favorite non-running activity is playing basketball. That's what it is all about!" He also likes to take road trips where he can camp and hike. A favorite is Yosemite.

Favorite quote:  "Our satisfaction in life comes in our trying and not in the results." -Michael Kelly

Personal: He is a sophomore at WWU and manager of the basketball team.
