Village Books and Fairhaven Runners & Walkers raise over $1500 for the Whatcom Literacy Council.

With the cooperation of the Whatcom Literacy Council and the always-appreciated public, Village Books and Fairhaven Runners & Walkers had a smashing success with this year’s Walk/Run for Literacy 5k. Registration for the race was $10 individual/$20 family in advance and $15 individual/$25 family day-of registration. We had nearly 200 people sign up for the race, which took place June 24 on the Village Green in Fairhaven. Prior to race-day, registrants could order t-shirts with the Walk/Run for Literacy logo. Additional donations were taken both before race day and the day of. All money from registrations went directly to the Whatcom Literacy Council. The Whatcom Literacy Council is an essential organization for Whatcom County, teaching hundreds of area adults to read each year. They are always looking for volunteer tutors.
